    AP® Computer Science: Principles: [new course in the making since 2014] 

    As based on two highly-acclaimed curriculum as endorsed by The College Board (https://advancesinap.collegeboard.org/stem/computer-science-principles/curricula-pedagogical-support), it took two years to develop the "AP® Computer Science: Principles"  course.  The two leading curriculum used are:

    • 1) Code.org (code.org/educate) and 
    • 2) U.C. Berkeley's Beauty and Joy of Computing (bjc.berkeley.edu).

    Computer Science 1: GameOn Programming2Publishing ~  Beginner

    To learn fundamental object-oriented programming (OOP) concepts, the student will apply graphical “Drag-and-Drop” programming tools such as 1) Scratch 2.0 by MIT (one of the top nation-wide Computer Science Colleges) -- as well as -- 2) Code Studio by Code.org (the leading Coding Curriculum that has been adopted world-wide for both Elementary and Jr. High School, https://studio.code.org/).  This revolutionary “visual-approach” to OOP has gained acceptance – even -- at the collegiate level, such as at both Harvard University’s Computer Science 50 and at U.C. Berkeley’s Computer Science 39N. 


    Weekly assignments focus on coding interactive 2D gaming applications – all within the firm guidelines of being “safe, smart & sweet” (see “Vision” tab above).  Final projects will involve designing and developing a creative 2-D game-app for a desktop platform.  To keep in pace with the rapid development of technology, kindly understand that the curriculum may be modified during the school year to maintain relevancy and effectiveness for the student.  And to continue the family-based support, parents will be notified in advance regarding any courseware improvements.


    Computer Science 10: GameOn Programming2Publishing ~ Intermediate

    Based on Game-ON Programming 1’s foundation, students will advance their computer science skills by a) going deeper with Code Studio (see Computer Science 1) and b) exploring an industry-leading, HTML5-based Construct 2 game-engine from Scirra [www.Scirra.com].  (Construct 2 Programming Game Engine is the #1 HTML5 Game Programming Engine as rated by https://html5gameengine.com/).  In this course students will learn the fundamentals of creating a stand-alone 2-D game apps that could be ready for commercial markets, such as for Windows, Macintosh, Android, and iPad/iPhone.
